PRODUCTION ENGINEER - Sheffield, Permanent EMBS Engineering has recently embarked on a new relationship with a precision engineering company located in Sheffield which acts as just one of 5 sites across the UK. The business specialises in manufacturing medium to large components for a multitude of recognised customers who sit within various industry sectors including Hydrogen, Power, Energy and Defence. As part of a company restructure, the client is in the market to recruit x2 Production Engineers to join the business on a permanent basis. The Production Engineer is responsible for maximising efficient use of resources and processes: identifying and resolving areas for improvement in the manufacturing process  They will be responsible for the implementation of production processes and procedures, leading productivity improvements with project-based activities, including new product introduction, improving quality and safety, and reducing operating costs.  Responsibilities will include but not limited to: Support effective production planning (routing assessment, confirmation of skills, capacity, utilisation and tooling requirements).  Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout.  Contribute to continuous improvement activities, including the layout of cells and 5s activities.  Identify opportunities where efficiencies can be improved, focusing on new tooling and fixtures to obtain best in process manufacturing, advanced machining process and setup.  Support the implementation of new development projects.  Ensure CNC programs and setting sheets are correct and available for production operatives. Ensure that setting sheets are filed and stored, in line with QC requirements.  Work closely with the engineering team to evaluate cylinder and part designs for manufacturing (equipment, processes, tooling, handling, skills and Knowledge).  Advise new advanced machining process and programming set up.  Inform equipment capex investment and maintenance planning (return on investment, equipment availability) Liaise with visiting customers and suppliers where required.  Carry out skills assessments and training requirements for machinists (ensure capability, review performance vs time/cost/quality). Liaise with the Production Training Coordinator to ensure optimum levels of skills and training are maintained.  Support Purchasing and Quality to evaluate subcontract machining companies (capability, process audit, NCR investigation).  Provide technical advice to support the sales team in order to maintain relationships with customers, vendors and third-party inspection authorities.  Support QA with the investigation of all inaccuracies/discrepancies on Drawings/BOM’s/works orders to avoid repeats by means of the NCR process. Advise technical specifications for materials and equipment required for each project. Plan equipment installation approaches and schedules in tandem with assembly workflows.  Lead and/or support technicians and trainee engineers, Training people within own workgroup  Ensure all manufacturing is to the correct specification, traceability adhered and QC requirements are delivered OTIF and the highest standard.  Successful applicants MUST be able to demonstrate: Previous engineering background  Worked with medium to large precision engineering components Ideally performed a Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Development Engineer, Applications Engineer, CAD CAM Engineering position Ability to identify the correct method of manufacture, tooling, cycle times etc. Ability to spot errors, anomalies or areas of improvement within the manufacturing process Tooling knowledge regarding CNC & conventional machining Confident liaising with suppliers (tooling, material etc.) Capable of performing offline programming using CAD-CAM software CNC machining knowledge  Able to design jigs & fixtures Experience in performing Continuous Improvement activities  In return, our client is offering: Stability & Longevity - Permanent Competitive salary - negotiable depending on experience Onsite training and development Hours: 39 per week Additional benefits available include Medical cover, Life assurance, Contributory pension scheme (5+5) 28 days + stat holiday allowance, company bonus scheme, annual pay reviews, long service awards plus much more.
