Power Electronics Design Engineer Warwickshire, UK £40-65k + bonus + benefits This role requires experience of power electronics design but also experience of PCB layout. Engineers should be able to take products through the design lifecycle to validated prototype and this includes design of PCBs. Working in a customer centric organisation you will be involved with taking power electronics designs from concept (blank page) to optimised prototype for electric vehicle / e-mobility applications. Based in Leamington Spa. More: Power Electronics Design Engineer. The role could suit an engineer with at least 3-4 years of relevant industry experience. Candidates should have: * Strong communication skills (used to working directly with customers) * Excellent track record in the design of power electronics (power inverters or switch mode power supplies (SMPS)) or automotive EV projects or similar * Experience of designing digital and mixed signal control and interface circuit design would be great. * Experience of PCB layout using tools such as Altium, etc, would be required. * Experience of inverters / SMPS for vehicle electrification, motor control, or similar would be preferred. In this role you will be involved with taking customer projects (electric vehicle propulsion / motor control modules) from concept to prototype. This means being able to develop systems from scratch, bringing solutions up through hardware integration and lab testing to form validated prototypes ready for customer handover. The company is involved with the design of electric drivetrain systems for automotive electric vehicle and other e-mobility domains. They are open to considering power electronics engineers from other domains. Of course, those aligned to similar applications (e.g., variable speed drives, DC-AC traction motors, PMSM control, DC-DC converters, etc) would be preferred. Required experience / skills: Power Electronics Design Engineer * Excellent academic background (degree / master’s degree in electrical, electronic engineering, etc) * Strong communication skills (used to working directly with customers) * Experience of leading projects and mentoring would be useful. * Excellent track record in the design of power electronics (power inverters or switch mode power supplies (SMPS)) or automotive EV projects or similar, perhaps OBC or DC-DC converters. * Experience of designing digital and mixed signal control and interface circuit design would be great. * Experience of PCB layout using tools such as Altium, etc, would be required. * Experience of inverters / SMPS for vehicle electrification, motor control, or similar would be preferred. * Good practical engineering aptitude including the development of power electronics hardware in a lab, rig and vehicle environment for demanding applications. * Able to work in a fast-paced, customer centric environment. * Evidence of innovation and creative problem solving for relevant engineering projects. Others: Beneficial: Power Electronics Design Engineer * Development of systems in the simulation environment, HiL systems, etc * The ability to work with mechanical design teams to develop designs into full working prototypes. * Experience of thermal management / cooling of power electronics systems would be great. * Training in the safe use of high power, high voltage test equipment up to 1MW and 800 Vdc Our client is looking for Power Electronics Design Engineer (engineer / senior) with a relevant degree to help take proof of concepts through to prototype and into production ready designs. Experience of automotive, marine, aerospace or other vehicle electrification / motor control product development would be preferred.
