Obsolescence Manager Overview - Obsolescence Manager My client is a market leading manufacturer within the Aerospace industry. They are currently seeking an Obsolescence Manager responsible for managing obsolescence to enable longevity in the product lifecycle. Project management of obsolescence projects will form part of this role and it is expected that approx. 50% on this role would be electronics biased. With Propellant/Pyro being another area that often suffers obsolescence challenges. Responsibilities - Obsolescence Manager * Reporting Product Lifecycle Status. * Preparation of Product Obsolescence Dashboards/Reports * Supporting Seat Group IPTs to deliver customer reports. * Proactive Obsolescence Management * Data Collection defined and aligned to component/product type. * The continual development of an obsolescence review process. * Approval input to the NPD component review process. * Aligning data for product obsolescence decisions. * Supporting the review board decision making process * Supporting product development roadmap decision making * Provide management and oversight of a number of smaller obsolescence related projects, including: * Prepare project proposals. * Define the project scope and objectives. * Determine communication to internal resources and allocate tasks. * Identify requirements for company or external resources. * Understand verification, validation and qualification requirements. * Develop plans and budgets to delivery. * Schedule management. * Where possible develop a model for solving obsolescence related problems. Experience required - Obsolescence Manager * Broad project management experience underpinned by a thorough knowledge and understanding of development life-cycle and engineering disciplines (design/test/manufacturing). * Experience in managing component and product lifecycle. Specifically Electronics obsolescence. * Broad understanding supply chain, distribution especially the electronics sector and contract Electronics Manufacturers (CEM). * Experience of managing customer/supplier interface. * Extensive experience in presenting data driven reports and proposals to stakeholders internal and customer Obsolescence Manager
