We're looking for a campaigner with a demonstrable record of successful influencing and effective The BVRLA represents over 1,000 companies engaged in vehicle rental, leasing and fleet management. Together with members, the association works with policymakers, public sector agencies, regulators, and other key stakeholders to ensure that road transport delivers environmental, social and economic benefits to everyone. This role is responsible for driving policy communications and stakeholder engagement for the BVRLA, campaigning principally in the area of decarbonisation and including electric vehicles, air quality, future mobility, road safety and consumer protection. Key Responsibilities: Promote awareness of the industry to parliamentarians and key policymakers in national and local government Maintain and implement a public affairs and stakeholder engagement strategy, with a particular focus on transport decarbonisation, tax and motor finance Coordinate lobbying activities on behalf of BVRLA members to address potential threats and/or opportunities raised by political stakeholders Represent the BVRLA and its members at a variety of workshops, roundtables, committees, conferences and other sector or member-based events Support the policy team to provide update reports to members and colleagues primarily through quarterly board presentations as well as producing Ministerial briefings as required Work with BVRLA's Research & Insight Manager to initiate, coordinate and distribute policy research project and data analysis Work with BVRLA's Events Manager to develop agendas, co-ordinate, and oversee policy related events including Parliamentary receptions and conferences You'll need: Strong experience working in public affairs, perhaps gained in another trade association, public affairs consultancy, think-tank, government department or regulator environment A deep understanding of the national and local policy-making and political process in the UK, ideally with some experience of working in the transport, environment, business or energy environments Capacity to understand and lobby on highly technical issues and experience in running public policy campaigns Experience of policy research and analysing and using government statistics Excellent all-round communications skills, including the ability to present clear and compelling information to a variety of different audiences via reports, briefings, news articles, consultation responses, speeches and presentations This is a 12 month fixed term contract. The BVRLA are working 2 days per week in their Amersham office and 3 days from home. Travel to meetings in London will also be required.
