Job Title : HGV Contract Manager Department : Service Location : Caerphilly  Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE Benefits: Profit related pay, Company pension   Main purpose of the role of HGV Contract Manager To represent our business as a contract manager responsible for the daily management of a major contract. This will involve supporting the Caerphilly Fleet Manager in the management of the Caerphilly vehicle fleet and vehicle maintenance workshop including close liaison with both the operators of the vehicles and the workshops to not only ensure that the vehicles are maintained properly within budgets but also to develop relationships with the customer by advising on and resolving transport related issues to add value to the contract.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES of the HGV Contract Manager To represent our business daily and work proactively with both the internal and Caerphilly Management Teams to ensure that the initiatives and values detailed in the tender and the contract are implemented and monitored so that not only does the contract provide tangible financial and operational benefits to Caerphilly but that these are clearly quantified and evidenced. The day-to-day management of all aspects of a major contract including ensuring that inspection, servicing and repairs are carried out as per the contract (working closely with the Fleet Desk Manager), ensuring that operators and maintenance provider are aware of their obligations under the contract or SLA and ensure that the maintenance provider and vehicle operators are aware and understand their obligations by way of regular documented review meetings. To ensure that vehicles are properly maintained within budgets. To gain a full understanding of the Fleet Management System and provide training to Caerphilly staff when required. To ensure that vehicles are operated correctly and that regular cleaning and lubrication is being undertaken by the operator or the Vehicle Maintenance Workshops. To ensure the development of positive working relationships with the operators and maintenance provider and to add value to our contract through the pro-active management of the fleet. To speedily resolve any issues arising from the maintenance/operation of the vehicles, which the Fleet Desk has not been able to resolve. To liaise with suppliers to pursue warranty claims, organise warranty repairs and resolve any service/parts supply issues, replacements vehicles where applicable. To investigate “problem” vehicles and gain a full understanding of any issues relating to the operation and use of the vehicle and seek a speedy resolution to these issues. To undertake regular meetings with the Customer and take minutes for the QA system and ensure that the minutes of the meetings are signed as agreed by both parties. Prepare monthly KPI reports and present these to the customer. Ensure that any action points raised at these meetings are resolved speedily and effectively. To have regular meetings with the Fleet Director and submit reports on the Contract to the Fleet Director as required. To undertake operator training. To assist in resolving vehicle operational issues with the customer.Essential Skills required for the HGV Contract Manager role Have a recognised vehicle engineering qualification i.e. City & Guilds, MV technicians’ parts 1,2 & 3 Can demonstrate mechanical experience with light and heavy vehicles Hold membership of IRTEC or for a similar organisation Presentable, proactive person with the ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner focused on seeking to resolve any problems Have a minimum of 3 years’ contract management experience and excellent customer communication skills Have vehicle workshop stores experience An ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to influence change at all levels Excellent organization skills, with high levels of attention to detail with ability to multitask and prioritise deadlines. Have previous experience in people management A full clean driving license. Desirable Skills required for the HGV Contract Manager role A LGV category C driving license would be advantageous. Knowledge of municipal vehicles Hold a recognised IOSH Health and Safety management qualification. Hold a Certificate of Professional competence (CPC) National
