Our Client, a World recognised and respected Automotive OEM Manufacturer based in rural Warwickshire are actively seeking a Head of Restraints & Safety Electronics on a permanent basis. On offer to the successful candidate is a negotiable (albeit dependent on relevant experience) basic salary, together with a full flexible benefits package, to include a management lease car and bonus. In this role, you will lead the restraints and safety electronics commodity team and ensure technical leadership in the development of company products. Your responsibilities & duties will include: Lead the day to day management of the Restraints and Safety Electronics Engineering team. Work with other engineering functions to cascade safety component targets and deliver restraint systems and safety electronics components. Define testing (virtual and physical) for safety component development and sign off testing. Manage safety component test plan. Ensure all design manuals and company documents are appropriately created and maintained to ensure consistency and robust failure mode avoidance. Ensure all failure mode avoidance activities, commodity planning, design progression and DVP testing is completed to achieve Final Engineering sign off in line with timing constraints. Achieve business plan investment and piece cost targets. Qualifications & Experience ideally required: Should ideally be educated with an Engineering Degree, although those with lesser qualifications and plenty of relevant experience will be considered. You should have extensive experience in Restraints and Safety Electronics Engineering and Development. You will have proven leadership experience. You should have an excellent knowledge of tolerance/variation, testing and development, FMEA, problem solving, DFM & tooling principles, appreciation for VFM. You will additionally need to have an excellent mechanical engineering background and a comprehensive knowledge of Safety component design, and development and interface to safety attribute delivery. Working knowledge of AMPCS / MISSION or similar Product Creation Process is preferred. Experience of directly or indirectly leading purchasing, quality or manufacturing engineering teams would be useful.This position is available with immediate effect.
