Graduate / Junior Control Systems Engineer Cambridge, UK £30-36k + benefits This Graduate / Junior Control Systems Engineer opening exists within a growing automotive technology company and consultancy that provides design, development and systems engineering services to the automotive industry. The role is open to graduates and junior engineers with a background in realtime control systems and experience of Matlab / Simulink, that would like to develop a career as a Control Systems Engineer within the automotive sector. The Graduate / Junior Control Systems Engineer role requires: * A degree or higher degree in software engineering, electronics engineering or systems engineering * A good understanding of realtime control systems engineering (evident from relevant modules, projects or internships) * Good experience of appropriate systems modelling tools (Matlab / Simulink, dSDACE, etc) * An active interest in automotive technologies would be preferred (e.g. electric vehicles, ADAS, autonomous vehicles, powertrain control etc) As a Graduate / Junior Control Systems Engineer you will be working in a small team involved with a variety of projects, from short term prototype investigations through to longer term production level systems. You could be working on projects involving conventional powertrain, body electronics modules, electric vehicle drive systems, battery management, ADAS and autonomous vehicle sensors and control modules. Skills / Knowledge Required: Graduate / Junior Control Systems Engineer * Ideally a graduate of software engineering, electronics engineering or systems engineering with a solid understanding of realtime control systems, embedded systems, Matlab and Simulink. * Academic or industry experience gained within embedded software, simulation or control systems engineering involving sensors, actuators and controllers. * Preference would go to those involved with relevant academic projects and involvements (e.g. thesis, group projects, formula student, hobbies or internships) * Good exposure to using Matlab / Simulink tools for control systems modelling and simulation * Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the confidence to lead projects, meet customers and hold meetings * Good problem solving and analysis skills * Knowledge of model based autocode generation from Matlab / Simulink would be an advantage (e.g. Targetlink, Embedded Coder etc) More: (desirable skills / experience) * Experience gained as a Control Systems Engineer using Matlab / Simulink within the automotive sector although avionics, defence, rail or industrial control sectors may be useful * Knowledge of vehicle level networks and analysis tools – CAN, LIN, FlexRay, CANalyser * Knowledge of safety critical or high reliability systems standards would be useful (e.g. ISO26262, IEC 61508, DO-178) * A good appreciation of systems design processes and tools (e.g. requirements engineering, V Model, DOORS etc) * A strong and genuine interest in the automotive industry, especially electric vehicles, would be very useful. * Other useful tools include: HiL/SiL systems, PiSnoop, ATI Vision, ETAS INCA, OpenECU and Labview * Proven track record of system development, bench test, vehicle integration and vehicle test
