The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) was founded in 1920 when society – as now – was experiencing rapid technology-driven change. We believe passionately that the people working in the industry need the most relevant, up-to-date skills and qualifications in order to progress – especially during times of intense change.

We are the professional body for the automotive industry and our mission is to support the global automotive workforce in achieving and maintaining professional competence and continuing professional development to service, repair and maintain vehicles to industry standards. We work with employers and training partners across the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with a degree in mathematics, economics, finance, accounting, business, or a similar subject.

They will have two direct reports, our Financial Accountant and our Facilities Manager, developing and maintaining a motivated team, providing direction, role clarity and support.

Finance Responsibilities including but not limited to

Financial leadership, budgeting and forecasting, reporting, risk management, cash management, financial compliance, strategic planning and audit management.

Property, Grounds, Facilities & Reception responsibilities including but not limited to

Ensure our Grade II listed building and grounds are kept in good state of repair reviewing the cost effectiveness of contractors and suppliers, delivering excellent customer service to all visitors to the site and overseeing Health and Safety requirements.

Experience working in a similar role for a small not for profit organisation within an education, professional body or automotive sector background would be valuable but not essential.

A credit check will be required.
