Electrical Engineer – Electro Magnetic Compatibility (921) Location: Cranfield Hourly Rate: £27.00 p/h We are recruiting an Electrical Engineer specialising in Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield. This is a long-term contract role with a globally recognised automotive company, with the potential for the contract to extend over several years. Key Responsibilities: The role involves supporting the Electrical & Electronic (EE) Test team with the validation of various vehicle and system tests, including: • Whole Vehicle EMC (Internal Combustion Engine, Hybrid, and Electric Vehicles) tests. • E&E Systems & Electronic parts EMC tests. • EMC Regulation 10 tests. Additional tasks include: • Opportunity to support testing at major test facilities across the UK and Europe. • Development and set-up of new test systems for EV CCS (AC & DC chargers). • Set-up for EMC tests on V2L, V2G, V2X, and Autonomous drive systems. • Creation of test plans to meet project and design milestones. • Creation of testing procedures, confirming vehicle specifications and test parts. • Coordination of vehicle transportation when required. • Leading overall vehicle test technical coordination as project leader. • Formal reporting of test results to design sections and upper management. • Root cause investigation and recommendation of countermeasures. • Providing technical support to the production plant when necessary. • Occasionally supporting field investigations. • Ensuring quality assurance of electrical systems to meet client standards. • Completing validation for responsible commodities within project milestones. Qualifications & Experience: • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. • Strong understanding of electrical theory and the operation of electronic devices. • Fluent written and verbal English communication skills. • Experience with Harness/EDS layout and application. • Ability to follow system circuit diagrams and identify electrical connections. • Practical experience with problem-solving tools and techniques. • Experience with automotive CAD tools. • Relevant experience in automotive vehicle & electrical/electronic system development and generic EMC test standards. • Competency with PC applications, especially Microsoft Excel and Project. • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Flexible with working practices and hours, with the ability to travel abroad for testing (typically a few days to 2 weeks, occasionally longer). Hours & Pay: • Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week. • Hourly rate: £27.00 p/h.
