Electrical Vehicle Technician

An automotive company is looking for an Electrical Vehicle Technician to work on a permanent basis on site in Northampton. This role sits within the build and test team, and will work to modify prototype vehicle and engine harnesses to suit application. As well as fit instrumentation and diagnostic measurement equipment to development cars. Responsibilities * To carry out wiring modifications to suit vehicle application * To design and manufacture harnesses as required * To carry out fitment and removal of development engines from development vehicles. * To carry out installation of engine/vehicle specific instrumentation to prototype vehicles. * To be responsible for leading projects within the workshop. * To carry out any fabrication and fitment work required to fit prototype parts to vehicles. * To have a good understanding of engine management systems and emission control systems. * To be able to carry out basic problem solving/fault finding on vehicle and engine control systems. * To carry out road and track test work of development vehicles. * To be able to support offsite vehicle work when required. Qualifications * City & Guilds or Motor Vehicle NVQ. * Recognised vehicle/engineering apprenticeship. * TEC Level III, ONC or HNC in Motor Vehicle engineering. Skills and Experience * Extensive knowledge of whole vehicle electrical systems * Proven electrical repair experience????????Minimum of 4 years vehicle related work. * Previous experience of vehicle mechanics or previous engineering experience.? * Good organisational skills. * Ability to improvise and use initiative when required. * Basic level of IT skills. Competencies * Self-motivated. * Adhere to company safety policy. * Adhere to company procedures.
