Customer Oriented Engineer Cranfield £27.00p/h We are recruiting a Customer Oriented Engineer for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield. You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role. The contract is on an ongoing basis a may run for several years. Key Responsibilities of the Customer Oriented Engineer: Based within the Customer Oriented Engineering department the role is to define what is required from a customer’s point of view and disseminate those requirements to engineering teams. • Establish customer target requirements for cross car line systems, including, but not limited to In-vehicle-Infotainment systems, storage solutions, controls, switches & displays. • Develop and refine European Market customer requirements for input to future products during the advanced engineering phase. • Analyse European Automotive market trends and customer usage patterns to identify unmet needs and opportunities, support development of potential solutions. • Evaluate Cross car line systems from customer point of view and co-ordinate judgments across different vehicle evaluation groups. • Work with other departments including Sales & Marketing, Product Planning, Design/Styling to support development competitive mid-term strategies & product roadmaps. • Analyse monthly sales data and produce report. • Create documentation to articulate customer use cases and needs and subsequently the re-quirements for new technologies / systems under development. • Output Market / Trend / Engineering Test reports. • Analysis of Test Data and study / present results. • Conduct Project Testing and report results in-line with client’s processes. • Produce Benchmark Reports to be issued to the wider business. Qualifications & Experience for the Customer Oriented Engineer: • Qualified to minimum of degree level or equivalent. • Proficient in all MS Office applications – esp. Excel & Powerpoint. • Customer Focused – with knowledge of European Driving Scenes & European Customer Driving / car usage Behaviour. • Ability to make clear and concise written reports and verbal explanation. • Understanding of vehicle development and performance. • Understanding / appreciation of usability and ergonomic principles. • Attention to detail & technical precision. • Ability to prioritise and work autonomously. • Ability to problem solve.
