Multi-skilled Sheet Metal Worker required - responsible to the Aerospace Team Leader Overall purpose of job: To work as part of the Manufacturing Team to satisfy customer demand in a productive and safe manner, whilst ensuring required Quality standards are met. To offer flexibility within the manufacturing role, ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction. Principal Accountabilities & Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following: Adherence to Company Quality Systems Adherence to Company Product Quality Standards Select gauges and types of sheet aluminium according to product specifications Fabricate or alter parts using hammers, punches, drills and Eckold machines Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff and smooth surfaces, seams and joints of assembled parts using hand tools and portable power tools Shape aluminium over shaping fixtures Inspect individual parts, assemblies and installations for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers Determine project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences and required methods and materials, according to engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions Lay out, measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on material according to engineering drawings or templates, using calculators, scribes, dividers, squares and rulers Shaping and cutting out sections using hand tools Finishing items with tools such as grinders and polishers to smooth down rough edges Assembling sections using welding and bolting methods Check that the quality conforms to company & client specifications prior to dispatch Operate processes as requested once trained Adhere to housekeeping disciplines where specified Look after all company equipment & plant Store Plant & Equipment appropriately when not in use Achievement of targets where specified Maintain Company Plant & Equipment when requested & at the required frequency Accurately & clearly complete documentation as required (Work record sheets etc.) Keep immediate work area, unit, yards & general factory clean & tidy Adhere to Housekeeping standards where specified or communicated Wear Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) where designated Report potential hazards, near miss incidents & accidents Always wear company work clothing when issued Work in a safe manner at all times – if in doubt ask Adhere to rules & procedures outlined in the Company handbook Timely reporting of all non-conforming issues to Supervision or management Actively participate in training and development Actively participate in Improvement initiatives, Improvement teams & Idea generation schemes Knowledge: Essential •Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery •Working to tight/fine tolerances •Strong sheet metal, fabrication knowledge within a manufacturing environment •Experience assembling aircraft components Desirable: Apprentice trained Sheet Metal Worker Aerospace/precision engineering background Specific Skills: Works effectively and cooperatively with others to achieve goals Establishes and maintains good working relationships Ability to read engineering drawings Experience of working with metal tolerances of 0.5mm Personal Qualities: •Good communicator •Integrity •Can do attitude •Customer Focus •Team Player The company are a great investor in people, and this is a fantastic career opportunity for candidates with a professional attitude and a willingness to learn and develop.
