Air Personnel are currently supporting their client in the Midlands for a Chief Certification Engineer. A critical role within a dynamic Design Office, developing bespoke interiors and mission equipment solutions for Airbus Helicopter Products. Operating within a diverse Organisation with multiple approvals including Flight Test, Production, Part 145 and CAMO. This key role requires broad experience and knowledge of aviation industry at a Type Design and Certification level in both Civil and Military regulatory environments. Acting as focal point and leader for certification, you will ensure consistency within the design teams for robust and cost effective solutions; interfacing with Designers, Compliance Verification Engineers and your own team members. You will also be expected to interface with all functions within the Company as well external Agencies and Customers. Overall Purpose of the role •Accountable for robust and consistent implementation of Certification activities in line with regulatory obligations of the DOA. •Influence design solutions, resourcing and scheduling of the design teams to achieve the former. •Provide independent review and compliance verification. •Support and develop design certification competencies in line with business needs. •Support internal and external audits. Main Responsibilities •Direct and guide certification activities to ensure compliance with impacted requirements of design solutions. •Ensure certification deliverables and dependencies are met appropriately inline with Design Milestone Gates providing an independent review. •Verify all necessary activities are complete in support of Declarations of Compliance and Design Approvals. •Provide Compliance Verification for Certification and Continued Airworthiness data. •Provide Certification and Airworthiness expertise as required by the Business. •Support and guide personnel development of design staff for Certification, Airworthiness and Compliance Verification. •Coordinate Certification activities with Airworthiness Authorities. •Support / guide defect, malfunction and failures investigations to define necessary actions for the continued airworthiness of the product. •Identify and implement process improvements and changes necessary for the regulatory environment. Knowledge and Skills •A good aviation background based in an Engineering discipline. •A broad engineering knowledge of aircraft airframe, electrical and mechanical systems. •Sound understanding of Aircraft System and System Safety Analysis processes. •Well practiced in compliance findings with certification codes FAR/JAR/CS 27 and 29 (or 25) •Working knowledge of EASA IR 21J DOA and MAA DAOS process and practices, •Sound knowledge of Flight Safety and Incident Reporting to ensure continued airworthiness of the product •Working knowledge of equipment qualification processes and related standards, (Civil and / or equivalent Military Requirements) •Computer proficient in MS Office desktop applications •Well developed problem solving skills and the ability to assess evidence and develop conclusions based on that evidence in a logical and structured fashion. Knowledge required •15 years aeronautical design experience with demonstrable knowledge and skills required by the role. •Design integration and architecture roles. •Showing and verification of compliance. •Team leader roles. •Operating with Civil and Military design organisations.
