Each year we invite Students to complete their placement year with us in our Eco HQ in Surrey. We nickname these students our ‘Future Talent’ because they often go on to do great things, either here at TGB, on our Graduate scheme or in the wider working world.

We are proud to offer a 12 month placement as part of your undergraduate degree, giving you Industry experience in a global brand (but with family feel) organisation. Vacancy description

As the Legal & Compliance student, we will support you to deliver advice to the Toyota and Lexus businesses, draft a variety of documents and negotiate terms. You will be one of the first points of contact for legal and compliance queries giving you a fantastic opportunity to be a valued part of a busy, high performing team.  In assisting with a wide range of legal matters, you will get exposure to various parts of the Toyota family, including TME and TMUK. We will help you to stretch your communication skills whilst growing your technical legal skills along the way within a truly commercial environment.

You will take the lead on various legal and compliance projects including small court claims, GDPR, vehicle legislation, competition law and contract reviews. To be considered for this role:

• You’ll be studying law or a law related degree which includes a year in industry.
• You must have a strong academic track record (minimum 3 A levels and on track to achieve a minimum 2:1)
• Confident in communicating with a wide demographic of customers
• Positive outlook and problem solving mind-set.
• Really team focussed and able to build relationships
• Passionate about customers & obsessed with delivering a service the way that customers LOVE!
• Residing in the UK and either living within or willing to relocate to within a commutable distance of our ECO HQ

Skills required

Qualifications and experience you’ll need:  

Essential

• You’ll be studying a law or a law-related degree with a strong 2:1 track record.
• You’ll have a minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent including English and Maths.
• You’ll have a minimum of 3 A levels or equivalent.

Desirable 

• It’d be great if you’ve already had experience working in a law firm or in-house legal team, but it’s not essential. Skills & Behaviours you’ll have:  

Essential

• You’ll be enthusiastic and willing to get involved in all areas of law including:  intellectual property, competition, marketing and advertising, contract law and data protection.
• You’ll be confident in speaking with others within the team and around the business.
• You’ll be organised with good time management skills and be able to work calmly - even when the heat is on!
• You’ll be good at researching issues and preparing written notes setting out your interpretation and thoughts.
• You’ll be confident using Microsoft packages and open to learning how to use new IT packages and databases.
