The role requires maintenance and repair of waste collection vehicles and equipment consisting of various makes, models and types, ranging from car derived vans to artic units and trailers. The role covers a blend of early shifts and late shifts - Early - 06:30-14:30 Monday to Friday  / Late shift - 14:00-22:00 Monday to Thursday with a 10:00AM start on a Friday 18:00 finish. HGV Technician Duties As an HGV Technician (Chargehand) you will work on a mixed fleet of commercial vehicles, the successful applicants will be required to undertake all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair, your duties will include; Vehicle inspections. General servicing and pre-planned maintenance. Reactive maintenance as required. MOT preparation / Presentation. Correction of running defects. Repair and maintenance of hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems. Fault diagnosis and rectification of defects including hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical.  HGV Technician Experience Be a qualified HGV Technician with City & Guilds / NVQ qualifications or time served Chargehand experience Must have a minimum of a car/van driving licence, HGV licence desirable IRTEC Qualification desirable. Experience with the vehicles used within the waste industry would be a distinct advantage. Experienced in hydraulic and electrical systems.
